Even though you set headerWordWrap to true, when a headerRenderer is used those properties are repaced when the renderer is created. Keep in mind, the default item renderer is a Text field. In the HeaderRenderer AS, change the Height (maybe to 40) and the header text should wrap. You might also have to deal with the header text alignment.
