He mentioned that he was already running ServiceCapture... the problem was an error in his CF code before the query fired & was returned. Basically my problem was Flex never returned the proper error.  I had to hunt through the CFC, dropping in random CFDUMPS or CFFILE statement (to dump variables to a log file) to try to find out what the problem was.  I actually had to use a CF application written to invoke the CFC to see what the ColdFusion debugging output looked like.
