Sounds simple, right? Just specify the backgroundImage in the Application object.   However, I must be totally missing something since I've tried everything I can think of, and I still can't get any background images to display. Is there a trick? Also, I see in the Flex Style Explorer that they use a SWF with a symbol definition.
