Can't confirm with 1.5, but it's sensible to think that it follows a similar approach. Since every cell is a unique object, an instance of the itemRenderer is used to create the DisplyObject. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. When the individual cell has finished rendering? Anything to do with editing? Again, I won't be much help with the details of 1.5.
