It was intentional, a debugging message to indicate that an item was passed in for selection that doesn’t exist in the dataProvider.  We could remove it if you guys wanted.

Line 5010 of the ListBase.as file contains a trace line that
says "didn't find all selected items". There is no try/catch block
around it or anything...it just simply always outputs this trace
statement.

Is this an oversight from the adobe developers?
