To follow up further with this thread:

I just removed the "this" reference, and now I get the error once again.

Just to let you all know, I am intimately familiar with the "this"
keyword, and when to use it. But in this case, I don't understand why
it's the difference between the code working, and NOT working.

Since the "selectedContainer" Variable, is declared outside the
function, "selectedContainer" is accessible to ALL the functions within
the ActionScript code. With that said, "this" shouldn't be required,
since I am not creating any "local to this function" instances of it.

Could any of you shed any light, as to why it works like this?

Thanks as always - you are a wonderful list, and am always grateful for
all your help.

Mike

Thank you Geoffrey!

I could have SWORN that I tried this method of using the Brackets -
similar to using "Eval" which has been deprecated I think. I used that
in my Flash Apps quite often.

Actually, I did use the Brackets once before (still with no success) -
but I left out the "this" portion inside of the Container Constructor.
Still, I would have thought that it would have grabbed the Variable as
it was local to the .mxml file. Still, something must be different now,
because it does work -

I will try it now once again, and see if I can reproduce the problem -

Either way, you have helped me out - and I appreciate that :)

Thanks,

Mike

[EMAIL PROTECTED] is an instance name?

selectedContainer = Container ([EMAIL PROTECTED]);
