Ok, I am just thinking here, but:

Since e4x expressions can return any XML node you want, why not find the branch node you want that way, then use the necessary methods, casting to put (copy?) the XML into an appropriate collection?

Subject: [flexcoders] Using one branch of XMLListCollection as a dataProvider

How do I use a single branch of hierarchical XMLListCollection as the dataprovider for a dataGrid? All of children at the level of the tree I'm using are homogeneous, but the branch is well below the root, so simply setting showRoot to false won't cut it.

Thanks,

Jeff
