If on the other hand, the images are being loaded using data from an XML file, it can be associated to a flag which mentions that it is loaded or not(embeded).

When it is Embeded it should show up faster(because it is a part of the swf), apart from this there is now way to find out at runtime.The person writing the code will always know by looking into the file.-sam
