It's not the PHP work that scares me (about doing it manually)... it's the flex work. Besides adding listeners to datagrid and treating them accordingly, there may be other things. For example making the scroll height smaller to reflect there are more records than the one displayed, and I'm pretty sure I'll have other issues.
Giving it a second thought, for my problem doing it manually is actually better, but there might be situations where pageable recordsets come in handy.
