I experienced the same issue. I think there is a bug which prevents the TextField from having "roundedCorners". You can, however, use (or extend) TextArea and make the height 22 pixels (and prevent newlines being created, etc), however I'm not sure any flex purists would encourage that... maybe just wait until the bug is fixed and use external CSS to style the elements.
BTW, not sure if anyone has filed it as a bug or not.
