Hi Kristian, I don't know much about the webservices but I'll try to help...
java.utils.list is basically an ArrayList object. ArryList is converted into Array type Actionscript object by Flex. Before attaching this Array as dataprovider to combobox u need to convert it to ArrayCollection. U can do so by providing it as source to Array Collection Object and then provide this arrayCollection as dataprovider to ComboBox. I know this is so generick info but I can help u more if u can post some of ur java as well as flex code...
