Tom,
We have export to excel described in details in chapter 17 of upcoming book on flex as an example of external flex communications. In particular, it describes 2 examples of exporting datagrid to excel. The first one requires IE as hosting browser and requires user to have OWC (office web components) installed along with Excel ( part of "default" install). It features bydirectional communications (ie either side changes are automatically propagated to Flex/Excel). The second approach is done by hosting small flex application within "blank" Excel document located on the server. Upon clicking on download the embedded in Excel flash control establishes communications and loads data in Excel. I will try to post code / samples on the books site

For server side export to Excel, we also adding functionality to export data as CSV to DaoFlex product this week - it is going to be posted on sourceforge.net SVN this week.

Thank you,
Anatole

Hi,

I was wandering how one can export to Excel format out of a flex application (via web service on a service that responds with excel document ?) ?

And what about layout possibilities?

Thanks, Tom.
