If you have a reference to the child you can do removeChild(reference).
If you want to remove all labels, you can do this:
var i:int = numChildren;
var child:DisplayObject;
while (i--)
{
child = getChildAt(i);
if (child is Label)
{
removeChild(child);
};
};
