[flexcoders] DateChooser and it's dateGrid

I’m trying to highlight a selection of one or more days in the dateChooser. When inspecting the dateChooser and the CalendarLayout component I see that the most important variables, dateGrid and dayBlocksArray are internal vars.   Does anyone have a clue on how to override this?
