On an app that I am working on at the moment, we have some 'base' cfcs that extend others so that we dont have multiple sets of the same code running around..

I don't think it's a question of performance, rather more a case of
collecting related functions together - much along the lines of methods in
an Actionscript class. Far easier to manage.
