Hi Peter (and all) ...

I finally got around to checking out your proposed method, and 
unfortunately it does not work. It seems to interpret anything within a 
CDATA block as a string. 

Here is what I tried, and it does not work.

<mx:Label>
          <mx:doubleClickEnabled><![CDATA[{ true && true 
}]]></mx:doubleClickEnabled>
</mx:Label>

I also tried the following ... without luck:

<mx:Label>
    <mx:doubleClickEnabled>{ <![CDATA[ true && true ]]> 
}</mx:doubleClickEnabled>
</mx:Label>

So it seems the only way to get this to work is to use entities:

        <mx:doubleClickEnabled>{ true &amp;&amp; true 
}</mx:doubleClickEnabled>
