That's why I mentioned it was just Apache virtual hosts. AFAIK there isn't
anything :-)

You mean
        <servlet-mapping id="macromedia_mapping_0">
                <servlet-name>MessageBrokerServlet</servlet-name>
                <url-pattern>/flex2gateway/*</url-pattern>
        </servlet-mapping>
from .../coldfusionmx7/wwwroot/WEB-INF/web.xml ?
Note the v. hosts DocumentRoot is elsewhere.

Nope.

Yes.
We'll compile a SWF from MXML source with mxmlc, and copy it into the web root
of the appropriate virtual host, which has the HTML wrappers, art assets
etc., as well as CFCs for remoteing to.
I strongly suspect this is why auto detection of the correct server never
works as /flex2gateway/ is in the context of the default host
(localhost.localdomain) rather than of the server that served the SWF
(projectname.localdomain, despite all the virtual hosts including:
<IfModule mod_jrun22.c>
    JRunConfig Verbose false
    JRunConfig Apialloc false
    JRunConfig Ssl false
    JRunConfig Ignoresuffixmap false
    JRunConfig
Serverstore .../coldfusionmx7/runtime/lib/wsconfig/jrunserver.store
    JRunConfig Bootstrap 127.0.0.1:51011
    AddHandler jrun-handler .jsp .jws .cfm .cfml .cfc
</IfModule>

Just to reiterate - if we replace the {server.host} with the correct virtual
host name, all is well.
