What I've been doing it executing another glow effect on the button
when i want it to stop glowing, something like:
<mx:Glow id="resetGlow" duration="400"
alphaTo="0.0"
blurXTo="0.0"
blurYTo="0.0"
target="{myButton}"/>
Seems to be working...
