Debug mode is the only option as far as I know. But you should check out the mx.util.ObjectUtil class. It'll allow you to see more complex data. Just import it into your class and use it from within The trace object. Trace(ObjectUtil((someObject));
Also, there's a nice firefox thread that will allow firefox to pick up on the trace statements so it's easier to debug from a web application standpoint. Such as it would be hosted in a production environment. Not sure what the link is, so perhaps somebody else might know if you wanted to see it.
