If I understand you correctly, you want your datagrid to behave in a way that is not the default behavior of the datagrid. Cairngorm can dispatch any event you would like, but Im not sure you want to "notify" your datagrid of a change and perform a custom behavior. I would do a custom component and extend datagrid.. you can then internally listen for the data update and set the visible index of the grid. create the custom behaviors in the control... no need to spread the logic all over your application... -nick
