Thanks Igor, I actually tried something like that. My best bet 
would be to have a one second delay ( there are some movies that have 
up to eight children movies ). However, this makes the app to look 
really slow. 

   The Flex debugger can listen to the children unloads though.  I 
see something like this in the console:

[Unload SWF] /myfolder/Child1.swf
[Unload SWF] /myfolder/Child2.swf
[Unload SWF] /myfolder/Child3.swf
...
...

  It would be great to know if this is not possible at all. This app 
will be migrated to Flex completely. If the combination of Flex 
2/SWFLoader - Flash MX 2004 is unstable, we could then start planning 
the whole migration to Flex.
