Bryan, I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop from Windows XP to Windows Vista Business. First I tried the normal upgrade process, but my laptop was so cluttered and slow that I ended up running the "clean" upgrade.
Anyway, in regard to Flex Builder 2.0.1, I use the Standalone version every day, it's running just fine on Vista since about the beginning of February. (Or should I say no worse than it did on Windows XP ;-) Two things that I did notice during the upgrade to Vista: 1. The first time I tried to open Flex Builder I received an eclipse/java error with an "OK" button. (Sorry, I forgot to document the exact error message) Once you click "OK" you can't open Flex Builder. This fix for this was found in the Adobe install documentation: "Windows Vista users - The first time you run Flex Builder 2, you must "Run as Admin", after which you can run it normally. To run as Admin, right click the Flex Builder 2 launch icon in the Start Menu, and select "Run as Admin"." http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/2/install.html <http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/2/install.html> 2. When you run the upgrade and fix the issue above, if your workspace is in your user profile directory - for instance "My Documents" - the first time Flex Builder opens you will get a blank project navigator view in the workspace. This is because Vista no longer stores user profiles in C:\Documents and Settings but instead in C:\Users. Although some shortcuts are made during the upgrade process to emulate the old paths, the security perms are jacked. So you can fix this issue simply by opening your workspace from the new location at C:\Users using the Switch Workspace from the File menu in Flex Builder. -Jun --- In [email protected], "Bryan Clover" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi All, > > I'm new to this group and thought I'd start a topic where people can > post their experiences with Flex Builder 2 and Windows Vista.
