Now I'm not saying sites like this one and the Flex forum that someone recently launched aren't useful... but they're not useful to me. I obviously gotta be careful if I criticize a Flex community resource since I'm involved in one as well. But I'm getting the feeling like these info aggregator sites are trying to jump at some opportunity and they don't really solve a pain in the community.
Where's the problem with searching and finding Flex information? I think flexsearch.org is actually a good site that I actually use. I use that so I can tab between searching flexcoders and the livedocs. That's about all I use it for, but it's great for that. It's straightforward, easy, fast and it solves a very simple problem for me. I find MXNA plus whatever RSS reader you use (or even just the MXNA webpage) to be a fine blog aggregator. And I find the mailing lists to be great for collaborative advice. I guess people see these resources as a way to draw in a lot of existing content and try to create a website without adding content of their own. I don't want to sound too critical, because in the end I think it will all work out, useful sites will stay, the others will go away. I could be totally wrong about searchcoders and about the flex forum just launched. Maybe those will turn into super flex resources with lots of value-add stuff. I don't want another forum, or a new "flex search engine" (that makes me register an account...). I digest TONS of flex info daily. From blog posts to multiple mailing lists. I just don't have a problem with the way it currently works. And I haven't seen people yelling and screaming saying "Give us more and more flex information aggregators!" Just my opinion, I don't mean to sound too mean. I just hope that we don't see site after site launching trying to capitalize on the Flex content the community is creating without adding value back to the community. This group is one of the most valuable resources that anyone learning Flex could have. Unfortunately, there are so many messages per day that it's difficult to keep up and, until now, there hasn't been a fast and easy way to search the archives. Today, Robert Cadena and I have launched SearchCoders/Flex<http://www.searchcoders.com/flex>— a Flex and Flex Data Services application that provides nearly instant search results, lets you save frequent queries, provides quick access to Flex-related RSS feeds, and will soon be the best place to find Flex jobs. We sincerely hope you enjoy using SearchCoders/Flex and we'd love to hear what you think. Please use the Feeback button in the application or post comments at blog.searchcoders.com to report bugs, request features, or just give us your two cents. If you or your employer are interested in posting jobs at SearchCoders/Flex, please send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Thanks! Tom
