There are "complete" and "progress" events from mx:Image.

Subject: [flexcoders] Working with Images

Hello,

I'm just starting my Flex development, and have a pretty good start on
my first component. I'm using a mx:Canvas to dynamically place
components on the screen all spiffy-like, and since I come from Flash,
the Canvas class just feels more like home. The components displayed
are extended from the mx:Image component but I have two problems:

1.) I set the .source of the mx:Image component, but I can't find the
event (if any) that is fired when the .source tag is done loading. I
also can't find any events that track the progress of the download. Are
there events for this? If there aren't, I'm guessing I should be using
a different component to load and display images... Suggestions?

2.) I want to scale the images when I mouse over them. Right now, they
adjust their sizes and centering based on the top left corner, anyone
have suggestions on how to effectively alter the registration point so
its in the center? I've successfully dealt with this problem in Flash,
but haven't any luck in Flex. I tried making my custom component extend
the mx:canvas class, dropping in an mx:image on it, and then adjusting
its x and y coordinates, but I am left with only a quarter of the image.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
