Actually, my mistake, it works !

I was running in debug and it messed up my output.
Thanks a lot in deed Tom.

btw, there is a good article on
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/e4x_04.html that does the same thing
in a slightly different manner.

Romain.

Unfortunately this does not work.
I have tried the following :

                public function myLabelFunction(item:Object,
column:DataGridColumn):String {
                        var field:String = column.dataField;
                        trace("val=" + column.dataField);
                        trace("val=" + item.toString());
                        if (field != null) {
                        var foo:Array = field.split(".");
                        trace("\n>>>>>>"+item[foo[0]][foo[1]]+"<<<<<<<\n");
                        }
            return item.epar_document.id + " " + item.epar_document.rev_number;
        }

but I get an error (not such variable epar_document)...

too bad. Thanks anyway.

Romain.

I'm guessing you'll either need to use the full XPath stuff on item, or if you
are lucky something like:
foo=split(column.datafield)
return item[foo[0]][foo[1]]
