OK, let's try this again, As Johannes guessed, the automationChild is used by the automated testing system so that automation scripts can reflect the logical component hierarchy, rather than the display component hierarchy. Unless you are developing custom components that will be tested with the Flex automated testing integration, you shouldn't need to pay any attention to the automationChild.
