That did it for me.
The documentation is somewhat confusing.
It says
prettyPrinting
Determines whether the toString() and toXMLString()
methods normalize white space characters between some tags. The default
value is true.
In my case white space was added where there was none to start - a strange
way of "normalizing white space"
But, I am humming along further.
Thanks for the pointer
Peter

Hmm, have you tried setting the static XML.prettyPrinting property to false
before constructing the XML:
http://livedocs.
<http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/2/langref/XML.html#prettyPrinting>
adobe.com/flex/2/langref/XML.html#prettyPrinting
or played around with the other static properties on XML?

Subject: [flexcoders] HTTPService - application/xml - white space added
Gentlepeople,
I am using HTTPService to send XML to the server (so what?! ;) ).
Anyway, that works fine except for the fact that in cases of "mixed" xml
content flex seems to add (significant) white space in circumstances I
have yet to figure out.
Has anyone seen this? Is there anything I can do to avoid that?
Many thanks indeed!
Peter
