That would be cool, but I can't see that happening. I'd imagine that adding any OpenGL support would add a significant amount of bloat to the player. I think that it has become fairly universal, I don't see why they couldn't make a go for it..... but then there is always papervision, and the Flash renderer is fairly fast.
