Four things from me. 1) I found that not compiling CSSs to SWFs has helped a lot on compile time AND memory usage growth during compiling.
2) I've found that after putting my memory to the 600MB, FB has reached the max level less often than it used to and it not max'ing out during a compile which gives it achance to clear itself between runs and not get stuck. Maybe your number of MB is different, but perhaps you have one. 3) When I notice the RAM usage rising high, I will close all my projects and click for garbage dump (on the Memory tool). Doesn't take too long and can often times take RAM usage back to startup levels. 4) I find that Build All will take longer than Build Project. Even if only one project has changed. You will have to get used to the little annoyance that sometimes the Build Project option is grayed out when you go to use it in the Project menu. My solution has been to get used to right-clicking the project name and clicking Build Project there.
