Kumar, Thank you very much for your help. I already had the latest version of the flash player installed (9.0.47) and I did not find any new updates for the ActiveX control. But, what I did do is completely uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player and now my flex site seems to be working properly.
I was never able to get to the root cause of my issue as to why my machine was in a bad state. Especially, since other flash sites were working properly, but I am very happy that at least my flex site works now on IE 6 for my machine.
