I just tried using the <mx:GlowFilter> or <mx:DropShadowFilter> to VBox. The filter work very well for the VBox borders. But, I found the filters also affected the contents of this VBox, namely its children controls, such as <mx:Label>. I am wondering whether this is a design false of Flex.
