Wouldn't you just do:

<mx:ComboBox id="comboBox" openDuration="700"
mouseOver="if (comboBox.enabled) comboBox.open();" closeDuration="100"
x="30" y="86"...

Subject: [flexcoders] want to restrict bounce effect onmouseover for
comboBox if i set enable=false?

Hi All,

I have added bounce effect to comboBox and it is working fine if i
dont set the enable property.
means if i set enable="false" then it is still opening the list for
that comboBox, i want to restrict that too. below is the sample code
it works fine when we dont set the enable property for that comboBox,
try to set enable=false for combobox and run the code.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml
<http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml> " width="400"
height="300">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.effects.easing.Bounce;

]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:ComboBox id="comboBox" openDuration="700"
mouseOver="comboBox.open();" closeDuration="100" x="30" y="86"
openEasingFunction="{Bounce.easeOut}"
closeEasingFunction="{Bounce.easeIn}">
<mx:dataProvider>
<mx:Array>
<mx:Object label="one" />
<mx:Object label="two" />
<mx:Object label="three" />
<mx:Object label="four" />
<mx:Object label="five" />
<mx:Object label="six" />
</mx:Array>
</mx:dataProvider>
</mx:ComboBox>
<mx:Button label="open" rollOver="comboBox.open();"
enabled="false" x="10" y="37"/>
<mx:Button label="close" rollOver="comboBox.close();"
enabled="false" x="105" y="37"/>
</mx:Canvas>
