The difference, is that my question is in relation specifically to a flex component (that may have a bug), while your question was basic array manipulation and not related to anything flex.
I have narrowed the bug down. Specifically copy will work if I use the mouse to select text. Paste always works. Copy does NOT work if selection is specified using only the keyboard - ie holding shift and using home/end/arrow keys.
