BTW.... by convention, ids should start with a lower-case letter:
gridView, not Gridview.

Found it! Stupid case sensitivity!!

In my calls to my components, I was referencing them as:

<GridView id="GridView"

When it should have been:

<GridView id="Gridview"

I guess Flex didn't like the ID being the same as the Component name!
D'oh!
