If your app is pushing data to clients, then keep in mind that BlazeDS
uses blocking I/O, meaning one dedicated thread per client, meaning
your machine will start smoking and fall over as soon as you get above
a couple hundred simultaneous clients on a single CPU. A blogger at
Farata Systems who seems really intelligent suggests that there will
be a number of low-cost LCDS/BlazeDS alternatives soon that use NIO to
push data to clients. The nonblocking news was so depressing to me
that I haven't checked out the source code yet, but I wonder if a
patch will ultimately be submitted to Adobe that uses NIO for pushing
data to clients instead.
