I entered a feature request for image support in the Flex Rich Text Control. Unfortunately they marked it deferred, so I guess they decided it's not worth doing for Flex 4 :( If you agree with me that this feature is a good idea please vote for it: http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-14576
Think of all the cool tools that could use this simple feature: bug tracking systems, flex wiki editor, email editor, word processor, forum text entry widget, note taker, many more. Right now you either have to use javascript or write your own widget. If Adobe wants to really make RIA a desktop app replacement this feature is a no brainer. I was able to insert images into a Rich Text control in VB/Delphi 13 years ago! Does anyone know of any rich text controls that support images? Best I can tell, it seems I am going to be stuck in the javascript world to do it... http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/examples/editor/icon_editor.html My other big complaint with Flex is an Flash Player issue... I really want the ability to be able to paste an image to flex (and of course the Rich Text control) from the clipboard. The only redeeming quality of Java applets is they support this feature. The bug tracking system JIRA supports this via an applet and it is great for developers and QA to paste screenshots directly into the tool instead of going through an awkward upload process. Also, this is one of the complaints I always hear when people decide to just sent emails in outlook with images or use word docs instead of online wikis - it's a PITA to get images online and in word or outlook it's a simple copy/paste. Adobe can solve this problem if they implement clipboard image paste in Flash. I'm sure there are security issues, but it seems to me they can be resolved. There is nothing inherently unsafe about pasting an image to a web app, it just takes some work to make sure malware doesn't get embedded. Anyone know where to enter Flash Player feature requests? I haven't found a bug tracking system for Flash on Adobe's site, like I did for the Flex SDK. thanks phil
