If done right, and provides a proper email gateway to it (i.e. not like 
adodeforum.com does), it shouldn't matter if you see a web site and I see my 
mail client.
Best of both worlds.

OTOH, everyone can use their mail client. You don't need to learn and register 
at *another* web site.
