In Flash, with Flash 8 and AS2, I was using the webservice components to connect to ASP.NET scripts, not remoting. But adobe didn't update them for Flash in Flash CS3, so I had to switch to Flex for webservices - not a bad thing, but still bites if you want to connect to .NET via webservices in Flash CS3 - I don't know that you can natively. WebOrb might be the only option if that would work with AS3.
