Are you comparing the same player platform (release and debugger in ActiveX/IE, and not release in FireFox and debugger in IE) and deployment (deployed on a server vs local file system for one and server for the other)?. I would make some simple test cases and see if they work in the release players. I expect they will, which is going to mean that there is something in your code
Timing can be different since the release player is faster. If you are using any evil debugging tricks like depending on parsing getStackTrace() you could have issues as well.
