If at all possible if .pdf is an option Mars is worth a look.

It probably depends on what word features they actually require, and if your app needs to read and modify it afterwards (word will probably add all sorts of stuff to it on a save). I haven't a precise number of Word document. In fact, I have a datagrid and the client must be able to choose different lines of the datagrid and generate a .doc from this line.
