Well the idea is you run a proxy on your server, make non-rest calls to it with GET and POST, or Data Services, and the proxy is the one that makes the GET / POST / PUT / DELETE rest calls and then returns the result to your Flex program. I think LCDS / BlazeDS has some stuff in it to help with that, but I don't use it because we don't use rest so I don't know the details.
