Good! One reason I think this is a good idea is that it will make MXML look simpler, which is a good thing when you're trying to attract new developers to Flex. I teach classes in XML Schema and do the same thing to make that seem simpler ... no "xs:" all over the place because I make it the default namespace.

Even then I think 99% of the time the most used namespace with be the
one for MXML. It seems logical for the most used namespace to be the
one that's the default. I think it would be better to use prefixes for
your own namespaces and none for MXML.
