Any chance you could add a z-order index to the items? If so. do that and then draw them according to their order. Adjusting the z-order (which is a part of the draw cycle now) via a move-and-sort then should get you what you want.

I've got a repeater that draws circles to the canvas. At repeaterEnd I go through each circle and name them -- ie work, home, etc. I need to be able to bring any of these circles to the top - ie circle[3] (which is id 'work') has to be able to be above all other circles. Anything I'm trying is just dying here - though I can go through each of the circle[x] repeater items and trace out their id, I don't know how to GET at them - ie this['work'] doesn't work.... I can't figure out how to make the one repeater object above the others... I'm thinking about going purely for an actionscript AddChild route soon....
