Hello all,
I have run into a problem since I reinstalled Flex CS3. The
projects I had created were not recognized by Flex. So, I thought I
would just redefine them in Flex again (Flex CS3). I had a site
backed up on DVD and so I put it into my flex project location here:
c:\flex3\FlexGrocer
A flex grocery store application. So, I copied the site as it was
previously into that folder. As a newbie, I'm wondering, "what do I
do now? Do I try importing the files? That worked when I had a
project fully contained in a zip file. It wasn't letting me Import a
folder.
Next thought: "Maybe if I open a file from that project location,
just one file, it would see that it is part of a project and open the
project." Nope, that is not what it did. Instead I got a message
saying that I should open the project because much of the
functionality would be lost if I didn't. So, that won't work.
I then thought, "ok, I need to select File>New>Flex Project
This was not without problems as well. I was not allowed to define
the project using the same folder as before as it claimed that there
was an overlap with an existing project.
I had tried to delete the folders that contained the project so
that there wouldn't be this overlap. That didn't help. Flex insisted
there was this overlap despite the fact that the folders, all the way
up to the c:\flex3 project location, were gone, delete. Flex does
not offer a way to fix this issue, that I've found. Deleting the old
project in Flex is not possible because it is not appearing anywhere
in the navigation pane.
I found one solution that worked and that was this:
create a folder called FlexCS3 instead of Flex3 on the c:\ folder.
then I will have to copy and paste the code that I created into each
of the 3 files/applications that had existed previously.
Can anyone offer me a simpler and more appropriate approach
to working with Workspaces, projects and file folders? One other
thought that occurred to me is that it would accept as a project
location: c:\FlexCS3\FlexGrocer\FlexGrocer as the Project folder, as
that is one level deeper so it doesn't overlap with another Workspace
location. This is very inefficient as it means every time I would do
this, if I had to recreate a project and restore the work, it would be
going one folder deeper and deeper.
Isn't there a delete Workspace option to overcome this problem?
Thanks,
Bruce
