That's true, I've done it myself some time ago and it worked fine. Apologies 
for my omission.
You do get left with the standard flash "projector" window chrome, however, so 
best check that is agreeable to the client.
And of course that they don't require any features beyond what the flash 
projector can provide.

stand alone version of Flash Player.

 I've never created one this way, only through the Flash IDE interface, 
but there is no reason it wouldn't work w/ a Flex app.
