I bet you could subclass Accordion and do it without that much pain.
Remember if say you are going to another component, you need a dropEnabled property. So if you wanted Accordion to Accordion, just subclass and put the logic for drag and drop in that component. Then just call it DNDAccodion or something and you know they will talk to each other.
