[flexcomponents] New to Components - Where to start?

Hi,

  I want to create a timestamp component where the user can select the
elements for their timestamp.  I'd like the component to function
similarly to the DateField component, where the DateChooser opens up
and floats over everything.  Here, the user will be able to select
date, time, timezone. etc.

  Is there a basic "create your first component class" howto?  Thanks
