On my laptop the performance is silky smooth in a mpderatly sized
browser window. The frame rate will drop to 4 or 5fps at the
least. It's interesting to note that in the standalone player the
performace is noticable increased.
Development? It was suprsingly easy to build. Essentially it's a
bunch of Shape objects with radial gradients and
BlendModes. (There's a more detailed description of it's
construction here <http://blog.wheelerstreet.com/?p=121> .)
Usage? While I can't really see this componet used in the kinda
apps usually developed in Flex it does point to the breadth of the
platform.
