[flexcomponents] combo box problem

i have a number list populated in combo box which is editable. i want 
the combo box to display the entire number when a user types in 
starting few digits and press enter key. i tired using keydown event to 
check for the enter key . but when the combo box is opened and when the 
user types in the digit and press enter , the enter is not recognised. 
why is this and is there any other way to go about it ?
