I built something like that a while ago for one of my clients, which you can see here:
http://mem.com/ViewNewImageGallery.aspx?ID=576953 in this one, we have 2 image components, one is positioned off stage right while the other is displayed. A move transition then moves the centered one off to the left, while the one from off right moves to center. At the end of the transition, add the new graphic to the offstage image, move it from left to right, and start again. I currently have one where an mx:image is added to the stage right below the current visible image and fade the current image out. then destroy that component and add a new one below the previously created one.
